Where to Recharge Your Batteries During the Colder Months
A spa break is a great option for those who need to take stock and unwind. So where should you head to on the Continent?
Winter can be a pretty stressful season. Christmas is just around the corner, which means plenty of organising and shopping to take care of. This can leave the calmest person in the world pretty frazzled. The warm summer days are also a distant memory; with cold mornings and long dark evenings the norm. So in addition to the mental strain, you’ll find that your skin will be finding it hard to cope with this harsh, cold weather. Given all this stress, why not treat yourself to a relaxing spa break in Europe?
Paris is known to many as the City of Love, and there’s no better place to relax and unwind with that special someone.
There are plenty of chic hotels in the French capital offering relaxing breaks. One of our favourites is the Four Seasons Hotel George V.
The spa package here is extensive, with the hotel providing many exclusive treatments. If you’re going to try just one though, make it the Energising Parisian Experience. It’s the perfect way to chill out after a long day of sightseeing.
Tuscany is one of Italy’s most beautiful cities, with a rich architectural and historical heritage as well as incredible scenery. It’s no surprise then, that it’s one of the most popular tourist destinations in the country. It also has one of the best spas in Italy in the Argentario Golf Resort & Spa. The spa’s signature Espace Experience focuses on harmony, energy and nature. You’ll be pampered with exclusive products that are sourced locally, with the option to hire out the entire spa privately if you wish.
When it comes to beach holidays, Sweden probably wouldn’t be the first destination that comes to mind! However, it boasts a truly picturesque seaside resort in Ystad; with long sandy beaches and clear blue seas. While you’re staying at the Ystad Saltsjöbad hotel, you can take advantage of a number of treatments at the hotel spa. For complete indulgence, go for the Creek Experience. You’ll be able to experience a Turkish bath and authentic Moroccan clay treatment in beautiful, lagoon like surroundings.
Ensure You Are Covered
If you’re heading off on a spa break this winter, then don’t forget to take out some European travel insurance. The cost of medical treatments can differ from country to country, so taking out an insurance policy that’s tailored to your itinerary is the best way of protecting yourself.
As well as taking out some cover, it’s a good idea to get yourself a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). This will allow you to benefit from health agreements between countries within the EU. You can apply online for a EHIC free of charge, or head to your local post office to pick up an application form. Remember though, this card isn’t an alternative to travel insurance as it doesn’t cover private healthcare costs, so don’t rely on that alone!
Here’s to a stress-free winter
If you’re looking to get away from your worries and responsibilities for a few days, then you can’t get much better than European spa break. As well as being totally pampered, you can also get out and discover what makes each location so special. From the beautiful Parisian streets to the stunning Swedish coast, there’s a destination to suit everyone. So if you’re looking to brighten up your winter, don’t hesitate!
