The Versatile Blogger Award

As a relatively new blogger it was with great surprise and humility that I recently opened an e-mail from “The Regular Guy” saying that he had nominated me for “The Versatile Blogger” Award.

Wow, someone likes my humble efforts so much they think I’m worthy of an award. Thank you so much Phil!

I’d not heard of this award before so I quickly followed The Regular Guy’s link to find out more.  Effectively it is a mutual appreciation award from fellow bloggers. Phil was also kind enough to lay out the rules of the award which are:-

Rules:-

  • Thank the blogger who nominated you and include a link to their site.
  • Share 8 random facts about you
  • Add The Versatile Blogger Award picture to your blog post.
  • Nominate 8 fellow bloggers that you’ve recently discovered or follow regularly and include a link to their site.
  • Let them know you have nominated them.

Thank the blogger who nominated you

Well this is easy. Many thanks indeed to The Regular Guy. He is a brilliant blogger who like me loves a good rant. He often beats me to getting off my chest what really peeves me off. He has a great website which you can find here.

You can also follow him on twitter (@filbio) or facebook where he posts some great comedy pictures.

8 random facts about me

1, I’m now officially “over the hill”

2. I’m a lifelong fan and follower of Wakefield Trinity, more recently known as Wakefield Trinity Wildcats.

3. I began to follow Liverpool football club from the age of five because Kevin Keegan used to play for them. (The fact that I didn’t know the name of any other player or club at the time is irrelevant).

4. I used to run another blog a few years ago but was never really committed to it.

5. I wish I’d started Flights And Frustrations years ago!

6. I’ve been to 6 of the 7 continents and would love to one day go to Antarctica.

7. On short haul flights with small planes I like to sit in the aisle seat. On long haul flights I prefer the window seat.

8 My favourite city is Prague.

  6. Kitt Crescendo

Congratulations on your nomination for your award & thanks for stopping by my blog to comment. Phil is a pretty cool guy.
As for being “over the hill”? I’m of the school that the only thing that can age you is you….based on behavior. I’ve met people half my age that can sick the life & fun out of a room. They’re “old”. I hope to be youthful forever.

    1. The Guy

      Many thanks Kitt :-)

I used the term “officially” so I could back up the point you made. My reactions are a little slower than before and I do ache a little more than before. That aside though I can behave like a 12 year old no problem! :-) :-)

  7. Shane Todd

Hi The Guy, many thanks for the nomination, didn’t know you were a Rugby League fan! How do you reckon the Poms will go in the World Cup!!
Shane Todd recently posted..Greenland Facts [Infographic]My Profile

    1. The Guy

No worries Shane. Yes I’ve followed rugby league from the early ’80′s and try to catch NRL games whenever I’m Down Under. As for the World Cup, I suspect we’ll be spanked by the Aussies yet again. We are just not good enough at international standard. Leeds v Melbourne should be a cracking game next month though.

  8. Matt Harvath

Congrats! You are very deserving of this award! Keep up the good work

  9. Megan

i am exactly the same with airplane seating :)

    1. The Guy

Yes, I find something very relaxing about looking out the window on a long haul flight. Even if it is just checking our bearings.

  10. Bennett

Just pottering around your site and saw this and my seating preferences are the complete opposite, haha! I hate having to climb over sleeping people on long haul flights as I find it almost impossible to sleep most of the time – I like to go on a wander.

    1. The Guy

I understand where you are coming from and it is a trade off. I prefer the window seat since I can watch an interesting view and I don’t have people clambering over me.
