Is it a trampoline? Is it a tight rope? Well no apparently it is a slackline. I discovered these guys performing slackline tricks whilst I walked through Point State Park in Pittsburgh.
There were a few slackline wires tied up to some trees right by where Fort Duquense used to be. The sun was shining and everyone was enjoying their Sunday afternoon.
With all that these slackliners were having a great time. Using a bouncing wire which was of a reasonable thickness it was quite easy for these guys to balance.
They invited others to have a go on the slakline but no one else was quite so good.
This appears to be a growing sport as well as an acrobatic performance at the circus. A quick bit of research on the internet or YouTube shows how popular this is.
I’ll be honest in that I haven’t heard of slack lining before. However I’ll now be keeping an eye out for slackliners and all their crazy tricks.
If you fancy giving it a go there is an introduction to Slackline Tricks here.
There are a whole host of moves and skills plus some of the names are interesting too. I performed some research and found these names for slacklining tricks:-
- Atomic Butt Bounce
- Bounce Walk
- Buddha Sit
- Buddha Drop
- Drop Knee
- Jump Mount
- Line Snap
- Seated Mount
- Sitting Down
- Space Shuttle
- Sticky Butt Bounce (I like the name of that one 🙂 )
- Turn Around
- Vertical Jump
- Walking Backwards
