Should you write a hotel review online? Well it might seem like an obvious question yet some people are only inspired to leave bad hotel reviews.
When it comes down to it, as you research a hotel to stay in you want to know what it is like. You want honest hotel reviews.
There is nothing worse than researching a place to stay, looking at fancy pictures of a gleaming hotel, with fancy décor, all the mod cons and more. Yet when you get there you find it to be shabby, tiny bedrooms, broken showers and a Receptionist who is more interested in what is happening on Facebook than to attend to your every need.
Providing good and honest trip reviews has been a godsend with the internet. It has also been a curse. In the UK some review sites received bad media coverage for providing false reviews. The hotel operator was basically putting false comments on the review site to say how great someone’s fictional stay was. 5 out of 5 stars were awarded when 2 stars was more appropriate.
The lack of honest hotel reviews was found out and once a hotel review site loses credibility then it is a hard road to climb.
That is why I use the big hotel review sites and market leaders. For example, I stayed at a hotel in March of this year and was soon e-mailed by the hotel to leave my impartial review online. I did this and left my good and bad hotel review. I liked some aspects of my stay and not so much the poor service at breakfast.
Well it had an effect. The review went live and within a few days the hotel manager placed a reply asking for me to get in touch so he could talk through my concerns and address the issue. How good is that for service?
Since my review went live in late March it has been reviewed numerous times. I received an e-mail only last week that over 140 people had read my review.
The site I used for this review was Trip Advisor. You can visit Trip Advisor if you
I must admit that using Trip Advisor is a great resource for the modern traveller and used by many of us. The UK version alone is estimated to have over 1.3m page views a day! The .com version has an estimated daily page views of over 10 million! With that volume of visitors any fake reviews are soon likely to disappear in the enormous amount of honest hotel reviews. Another great thing about the site is that it will search the discount hotel sites like Laterooms and Hotels.com to find you the best price. All from one portal.
Whether it is bad hotel reviews or just plain honest hotel reviews I know which is my trusted source. I also believe that sharing your good and bad experiences through placing honest hotel reviews is the way to go. Let us help each other and share our experiences.
