Flying Business Class on Delta has some perks when compared to Coach (or Economy as us non-Americans like to call it). One of these benefits is the mens toiletry bag on long haul flights.
I was flying long haul on Delta flight DL65 from Manchester to Atlanta in December 2013 so had to check out the complimentary amenity bag to see what I got inside.
Well first of all the mens toiletry bag was by my seat when I arrived so no need to wait for it to be handed out. Already a plus.
The bag was stored in a plastic see-through wrapper. The bag was labelled as “Tumi business lifestyle and travel accessories for Delta”.
So what do you get from the mens toiletry bag on Delta Business Class?
First off you get the usual as expected eye shades / blind fold and flight socks. Nothing special, pretty much run of the mill but of course that is probably all we need as long as our feet are warm and we can block out the light.
Of course to go with the blind fold must come ear plugs. These were your standard soft foam pieces to be used one time only.
In similar black pouches came some extra handy items. A small packet of tissues plus a packet of a “refreshing” hand wipe, well I suppose you probably can’t wait for that hot towel to come too quickly.
On the further practical side were some interesting items. Inside the mens toiletry bag there was a small packet of shoe polish which I thought was a great idea. We always need to keep those shoes shining. There was also a shoe horn, a clear plastic one however it seemed to be a handy travel size.
I also found a small black comb. I don’t have much call for these nowadays so I’ll skip that one.
As far as cosmetics go there were 2 small tubes of Malin-Goetz products. This is hardly my area of specialist knowledge so I’ll let you be a judge on the brand. One tube was a lip moisturiser whilst the other was a hand and body lotion. Okay I get it with the hand lotion but there seemed to be a very minimal supply to be a fully body lotion. Well I suppose I can’t knock the gesture. Maybe this wasn’t a mens toiletry bag after all but more a complimentary unisex Delta amenity bag.
To accompany this the Delta Business Class Mens Toiletry Bag had a small tube of Crest toothpaste (a good brand), miniature toothbrush plus a pack of floss. Just as well since there were no tooth picks with the dinner that was served.
There was also a complimentary Delta pen to help fill out those Customs Forms. To be honest this is one of the few contents of the complimentary toiletries bag that I get long term benefit from. I always appreciate the complimentary pens on offer.
So what to make of this Delta Business Class mens toiletry bag? Well it is certainly not the luxury you get in an Emirates amenity bag. However to be fair to Delta they’ve put some thought into the contents. There are some practical items in there and I certainly appreciate the shoe polish and the shoe horn is a nice touch.
I don’t think there has been a lot of expense on the Delta mens toiletry bag in Business Class. However it is practical and suits the needs of a traveller.
