The complimentary Emirates toiletries bag is given out for long haul flights with the airline. As someone who has travelled numerous times with Emirates I’ve received the odd toiletries bag here and there.
Frequent readers of Flights And Frustration will know that I’ve had quite a few flights with Emirates Business Class. Late in 2012 I also upgraded to First Class on the Emirates A380! My review of the Emirates bag is based on the toiletries I received when flying Business Class or First Class.
The Emirates Toiletries Bag
The complimentary Emirates Toiletries Bag is quite a piece of luxury in itself. It appears to be made of leather so little expense is spared. Of course Emirates is a quality airline so do little by way of cost cutting like the US based and other carriers. Leather it is then so sorry to all you animal lovers.
I suspect that I was given the male version of the Emirates toiletries bag since it included a shaving kit (not that some women wouldn’t use them as well – I’m talking about your ‘tache missus!).
The Emirates shaving kit included Gillette shaving foam. Obviously Gillette are a big name in shaving so again the Dubai based airline have gone for quality and brand recognition.
There was also a Schick Xtreme 3 razor blade. I must admit that I’m not overly familiar with the Schick brand as I tend to stick to Gillette or Wilkinson Sword for my blades. I did try the Schick razor blade out with the Gillette shaving foam and must admit to having a pretty reasonable shave. Fairly smooth for my skin and none of those awful shaving cuts you get with cheap blades.
For those who know me, the offer of a comb inside the complimentary Emirates bag is a bit of a lost cause on me. Let’s just say I don’t have much demand for them! Either way, whilst not trialling it out myself on inspection it appeared suitable and up to the job. I’m sure that my bride would be very appreciative of this addition to her collection.
After a long flight I must admit that we don’t exactly smell at our finest. A quick shower is always welcome so it is handy that after a shower I have some great smelling deodorant handy in the Emirates toiletries bag.
The brand was Axe and it was an antiperspirant deodorant too. This is good to know since Emirates route through their hub in Dubai. Anyone who has been to Dubai will tell you how hot and humid it can be.
The Axe Dry deodorant smelt good and seemed to last a reasonable length of time when used. The stick was quite small though so be ready to buy some more within a few days of arriving at your destination.
Toothbrush and toothpaste
The essentials you’ll find in any airline bag are the customary toothbrush and toothpaste. These really do vary by airline in terms of quality and quantity. I’m glad to say that the complimentary Emirates amenity bags contained good quality with both. The toothpaste was Colgate Cavity Protection so you know that you are using some good paste there. The toothbrush, whilst nothing classy was definitely up for the job and I was able to have a good scrub and feel refreshed.
The toiletries bag from Emirates also included a packet of Fin Elia tissues. I must admit to being unfamiliar with the brand. It is a small packet but just enough to cover any emergencies on a long flight. After all you don’t want to be annoying other passengers by incessantly sniffing away when you can blow your nose courtesy of Emirates.
Smellies in the Emirates Toiletries Bag
When it comes to the free stuff this is where the Dubai based airline really excels. Within the complimentary Emirates toiletries bag is a red and white box with Bvlgari goodies! This seems like the appropriate type of luxury for 1st class Emirates A380. There is a 5ml Eau De Cologne, very nice it is too. There is a 30ml container of body lotion.
In addition, for all those shavers there is a 30ml bottle of Bvlgari After Shave Emulsion.
I must admit that they were all lovely and I’ll happy receive some more, please.
Overall I think this is a pretty good deal from Emirates. Admittedly I received the pack from flying Business Class or First Class with the airline. It is a while since I’ve flown Emirates economy so I don’t know what is in their current pack.
I think the Emirates bag could be enhanced through the inclusion of ear buds and a branded pen. These tend to be standard with a lot of airlines toiletries bags. Overall though, there is no mistaking the quality and content of the complimentary Emirates toiletries bag.
