The Emirates Business Class Lounge Johannesburg maintains the very high standard you can expect from Emirates.
The initial arrival is with a friendly uniformed receptionist. Not only did she welcome me to the lounge and checked my ticket, but she also asked if I wanted to use the wifi. This was a nice touch since I didn’t have to ask before she did.
The wifi connection is free and reasonably okay. I did watch a few videos on the connection and they occasionally buffered. As a result I would just recommend it for browsing and e-mail.
Inside the Emirates Business Class Lounge Johannesburg
The lounge was in the uniform appearance of other Emirates lounges around the world. For me this is a good thing as you know what you are going to get. The uniform styling of furniture is comfortable and amenable.
The lounge is overlooking a car park and some gates with parked planes. I couldn’t see an active runway from the lounge so it maybe a disappointment to keen plane spotters.
The food selection was a limited but sufficient range. The items on offer looked very appealing.
I opted for a couple of toasted chicken and tomato sandwiches plus a pastry.
The drinks selection included quite a large selection of alcohol and soft drinks, including a coffee machine. I opted for red wine. There were two bottles of red wine open although they were both “Pinot Grigio” which is disappointing for someone looking for a range of choices.
There was also a bowl of ice which held two bottle of white wine and a bottle of champagne. Spirits and beers were also available.
The toilets, like the rest of the lounge were impeccably clean. Whilst quite small there was enough room for a shower cubicle. It was also advertised in the toilet that “Shower packs, shaving kits and toothbrush kits were available from reception.”
The lounge had a wide-screen TV, a magazine rack with a decent range of reads available. There was also a Business Center which appeared to be a nice quiet spot for those who wanted to get away from the sound of conversations.
Overall the lounge maintains the high standard I would expect from Emirates Lounges. The same standard I found at their lounge in Manchester Airport. If you are not flying with Emirates you can still book your place at one of the other great lounges at Johannesburg airport.
The Emirates Business Class Lounge Johannesburg is a great resting spot prior to a flight.
