When you look at this picture you might think that it is a sufficient shower for you; yet I can give you 5 reasons why I dislike this type of hotel shower.
- Shower Guard
First and foremost it has a shower guard. Wet floor alert! I hate these things. I’ve stayed in many hotels over the years and seen many a shower guard on a bath tub. I’ve yet to find a hotel shower guard which keeps all of the water inside the bath tub.
Okay, I much prefer walk-in shower cubicles but that is not always feasible. So at least use a shower curtain then you can pull it all the way around and keep the water inside the bath tub.
- No Handle
Okay, so we’ve established that this is a bath tub. So that means that you have to clamber in and out of the bath tub. I’m certainly not the least agile person going but climbing in and out can be a small challenge. If there was a safety handle on the wall it would be easier and safer. Let’s face it, the floor of the bath tub is not going to stay dry.
- Where Is The Bath Mat?
Not so long ago I used to think this was almost standard in hotel bathrooms. Then they disappeared but a sign said they were available on request. Now, not one mention of them. Good luck to you fellah, if you slip and slide on that slippery bath tub floor then tough.
In a world gone mad with lawsuits for falls and accidents this seems crazy. Leave a bath mat with each bathroom please. If people don’t like them they don’t have to use them. Let’s face it the cost of a bath mat is less than the cost of a legal claim for a broken limb.
Okay, so in a legal world gone mad my first three reasons for disliking this shower are health and safety related. Don’t tell me that you’ve never heard the phrase “slippery when wet”?
- Fixed Shower Head
Maybe you can’t tell from that first picture, but this isn’t really a great shower head. Okay it is a Grohe shower and they are a pretty big name when it comes to showers. Yet the shower head is fixed in place. When I use the shower I have to almost cuddle up to the wall to get the effect of the shower spray on my body.
I much prefer the shower heads you can remove from the wall holder. Then you can move the shower head all around your body and it is much easier to wash yourself. Plus you’ve got the choice of leaving it on the holder or holding the head in your hand.
- Where’s The Pulse?
Now actually look at that shower head, pathetic! There is one fixed form of spray and it is not great at that. I much prefer the shower heads where you can twist the head and alter the shower spray pressure. You know the ones? You twist the head and can rotate between a normal pressure spray, or a pulse, a massage or maybe a really intense high pressure spray. It adds a lot more variety to your shower experience. Hey, who said a shower had to be boring?
Okay, so there you have my 5 reasons why I dislike this hotel shower. A true frustration for this frequent traveller. What do you like and dislike about hotel showers?
